I have some headers to go in my A14 but would it have any real advantage over the standard manifold? The standard seams more "flowable" than the headers.
here`s a pic of my headers:

They look verry much like JTS headers. if so these are arguably the best you can get and should alow much more mid/top end powere even over GX header's. provided that the rest of the motor is atleast miledly modifide

Yes, the length is better for low-speed HP, and the diameter is better for high-speed HP.

Should be better than stock manifold except for noise level and durability. Stock manifold lasts forever, these tubular 'headers' some few years.

I just notice now that my intake manifold has a hole in it! Is a steel cap that was between the intake and the exhaust. What is the position of this? Number 1 or number 2

I am pretty sure it is position number two.

Hang on, I'll go for a look and confirm.

NO, I was wrong. It is position number one!

If you think about the fuel mixture flow it does make sense to have it in POSITION 1. The arrangment is transferring heat from the exhaust manifold to the intake.

That plate is the heater plate ("stove"). If you use headers (extractors) it doesn't work. The Engine will be more 'cold blooded' (doesn't run as good when very cold). But will be OK when warm.

Yes, the ridges go down (into exhaust manifold).

The heater works with the thermostatically controlled flap ("heat control valve") in the Cast Iron Exhaust Manifold. After a few seconds of running, the flap opens. When the flap is open, the exhaust doesn't flow over the heater, instead goes straight down the exhaust outlet.

So it doesn't restrict exhaust flow except for few minutes of starting cold engine.

So what do you suggest? Put the headers or the factory exhaust? I have an A15 manifold but it got the water inlets and the head doesn`t.

Put the headers on. They are louder and probably will make a couple more HP.
