Standard wagon 645kg. Deluxe wagon 665kg.
A10 engine factory and any of the A series is a virtual straight bolt in. Some require minor engine mount adaptors.....details can be found somewhere here on the site.
If changing engine make sure you change the box also as they run a 160mm clutch that is marginal with a 1000 let alone a larger engine. Use the 180mm 1200 clutch. R137.
Clutch cable from 1200 should be used and mount off firewall of 1200 also.
My coupe has A12 and 4 speed. My brother has A15 and 4 speed in his wagon. Plenty of them around.....its all reasonably easy to fit.

Disc brakes if you get real keen http://www.datnet.org/new/techinfo/1000brakeupgrade.shtml

Depends there mate..

Some people like the A series vintage..im not to sure on the engine bay in the 1000 but you could defintally fit a A15 with webbers and extractors ;) nice lumpy cam and should be do some moving:)

Or look into a L series eg the L20b :) but im not too sure on how it would fit..

L series would be too hard to fit.
Go for A series.
I believe that an A12 from a 1200 will bolt straight into it.
A12 from 120Y/sunny, A14, A15 will need adapter plates.

At the risk of starting debates, I know that there are a few 1000's with rotary's in them.
Aparently they are easier to fit than CA's and stuff...
