Go for it, the Morris conversion is straight forward and has been done 100s of times. I would love to do a Traveller(woodie) with some big wheels a good lowering and A15 and 5 speed..

I'd "throw up" too..just at the thought of it.

Actually, I shouldn't say that. My old man would love to do up a good Morris Minor "low light". It'd have to be CA or SR powered of course. But it might be more appropriate to put a CG13 or something. So the standard peashooter exhaust could be retained.

Its a common conversion and quite easy apparently.
If you want to know about Morrys go see Brian Parkes at the Old Muffler Shop in Armadale.
He has a styleside ute with turbo A12 efi in it.
He does lots of morrys. He's been fitting 4AGE's in them recerntly I think. He also does disc front conversions to helps stop them after they get the datto grunt.
I'll be seeing him soon for a gearbox for my spare A14. I can get contact details if your serious.

Well it all depends on what i do with my 280zx...if i cant get a body ill go for a small little car 1000-1200-1600 or a Morris Minor 1000 or 1200..i could proberaly adapt the 280zx brakes and part the rest of the car out to fund the project..but finding a decent Morris to do up is getting hard..

For now the idea is still up in the air...If i cant get a 280zx body ill go for it i think.

thanks for the replys

theres a coulpe for sale in melbourne, a morris ute with an a15... very nice and a woody ( a bit rusty and rotted though) with an a14 in it in my area. It also blows smoke though.

A little while back i saw an Austin A40 traytop ute with and a12 running solely on gas. The bloke at my autopro store has converted a number of Morris Minors to nissan power just so they are usable around the hills!

go for it dude, morris minors are cool thats where my love of old cars started. my dad was always doing up morris' when i was young. the datsun into morris conversion is very easy, my family had a sedan and a ute both were datsun powered and the ute was awesome even though it was fairly stock looking, it was black like my datto i can scan pics if u want. my family is still involved with a morris club in wollongong and im sure there is a club in perth, coz in 96 we drove from sydney to perth in 9 days in a morris minor sedan for a national meeting, with four ppl and a totally loaded trailer in and in 6 weeks we drove 11000 kms thats shows how good datto engines are huh sorry bout the real long reply

My first car was a 1952 Morris Minor series M M 2 door "saloon" This was the first of the High Lights & the last of the side valves. It was the most gutless P.O.S. i have ever owned, but hey, anything that you ever wanted in a car...... it didn't have it. No power, no synchro [any more] no comfort, no heat or demist, no style [untill i fitted Falcon 13" four stud wheels] No nothing. I had a convertible [tourer?] for spares, but it was a bit rusty, so we cut it up & dumped it.

My experiences with this car are so memorable that i swore that i would never own another pommy car in my life. I never have.

Now if you're really into these pommy substitutes for an automobile, & i guess that somebody's gotta love them, then the best thing you can do is to fit it up with a Datsun powertrain. I believe that engine swap kits are available & of course we know just how much a little A series Datsun can be developed to turn a limp banana car into something that goes well.
More power to the Morris,........... Datsun power!
Chris
