Yeah Mate, quite a few people on here have done it.
Just put CA18DET into the search box on the home page, then check out the discussions on the CA.
There were a few just recently, so they should answer most of your questions.

By the way "Welcome to the club"

Hey Shane, where are you in the UK? I live in Lincolnshire. I have the only 1200 ute here in the UK at the moment. Mine will be getting a CA too eventually but first I have to get rid of all the rust (and there's plenty of it). So far i have replaced all of the body from the windscreen forward with new panels ...even had to replace both chassis legs! Here's a pic of it...

What do they wash cars with over there, battery acid? It seems that you are restoring cars that many of us would have taken to the dump years ago, but i suppose the old law of supply & demand makes us do funny things.
Fortunately for us, Australia took to Datsuns like starving pigs to a slop trough. Owning a Datsun dealership in a well populated area was akin to a licence to print money.
The only snow that we get is in our alpine region & we don't use salt. We still get rusty cars, but it would seem not like the stuff that you must deal with & there are PLENTY of parts cars still about.

shhh shhh, don't give the man ideas.i was told by some volkswagen owning friends that english tourists are buying beetles & shipping them back to europe,so don't give them any ideas about 1200 utes.if i can remember correctly,i think it was on ratdat's website that i saw they were stealing japanese cars to send to north africa, which is why early datsuns are rare in england.
