ad will it be as simple as keeping the timing chain inplace, swap cams and away it goes or do i need to worrie about TDC?

Sometimes the camwheel is put in to allow adjustment after the cylinder head's face has been machined excessively to raise compression. It shouldn't break anything if you leave it on the same adjustment and put a standard (lower lift) cam in it's place.
Sometimes putting big cams in required other things to be modified. Be careful of that.

Don't reuse the lifters, even if they are fairly new.

Use new lifters, or the original lifters that came with the original cam if you saved them.
