As far as I know, the 1400 bakkie in South Africa has a comp of 9:1.

For a "hot street engine", if you have an A14, don't fit this round-port head.

Round-port A14: 65 HP
Oval-port A14: 80 HP

Don't bother with dual valve springs unless you plan on revving over 6500 RPM.

Up the compression if you want to use the expensive petrol. Going from 9.0 to 10.0 will gain you approximatly 1.2% (1HP). It's a definite gain.

Just reading the wiki on that petrol link you added DD.

Is Unleaded Fuel OK?
Sure is. A12 engines are designed for unleaded fuel.

So I take it that the same for A14's? My A14 head is a round port, closed chamber with the castings '990' and '410'. Does that mean i have the special alloy valve seat inserts and valve guides that protects against wear?

Sure does. A14 heads are newer than A12 heads.

I can't swear it for South Africa produced A14s.

But A14s sold in USA and Japan are designed for unleaded fuel.

wouldn't all a14 be the same, as deigned and manufactured in japan, and only assembled in respective countries?
Is there any way of seeing wether the head is unleaded friendly?

Generally engines are assembled at the engine factory. Aichi machine makes the A15 currently. Dunno where your A14 was made -- did they make some in South Africa???

I would just run unleaded, no one has ever reported problems with them. What are you worried about?

no, just put it in your tank. You can mix it with what is already in the tank.

In South Africa, what do the other A14 bakkie owners use? Unleaded?
