yes i know its not a 1200 but have been thinking a bit on the Nav while the datto is in exile and i have come up with a few options and some of the pros and cons to go with them maybe you guys can shed some more light and offer advice/opinions.

1) the simple option is just some extractors/exhaust and maybe a webber upgrade and maybe cam. should cost around $1500 with cam and should be very reliable and no real work like making up engine mounts.

2) the frankenstien option is using a Z20E EFI intake manifold, injectors from SR/CA etc. fuel rail, some kind of ECU, Z18 turbo manifold if i can find one or go a lil supercharger. Pro's of this is i can prolly find all this stuff at wreckers and shouldnt be too expensive to build and still dont have to mess with engine mounts but cons could become a very unreliable headache.

3) secretly squirrel cash away and do a quad cam V8, SR20DET or V6 conversion. Pro's it should be more reliable then the frankenstien and there are V8 mounting kits available, cons expensive.

Can you weld? If so just fit a turbo, the cheapest and easiest way.

I'd suggest the weber/extractors route. I got a set of cheap extractors for $250 to suit my Navara last week through the local exhaust place. there was a complete kit for a 32/36 dgv to suit the Z24 on Ebay the other week for about $800 including the reco'd & jetted carby, but as I already have the DGV I'm just going to get the adaptor. I'd also recommend changing to an electronic dissy, either a kit or a complete dissy from an L series, because I'm constantly readjusting the points & the timing due to points wear. I've got a Z18 inlet & exhaust, no turbo though, but I think the stud pattern is different so I couldn't use the inlet manifold. the Z18 came with the most ancient Microtech computer I ever seen, completely antique. Plus a hole in No3 piston & no dissy. Not bad for $50.

Would it be possible to get a late model Nissan Micra, fit the 1.8 litre motor from a Tiida & then turbocharged it? Your answer must include parts numbers for the conversion. You have 12 months. Commence.

im loving all this feed back because the Nav will be my tow car for the datto, ive found a Z20E intake manifold in Finland of all places and a crazy George Fury turbo manifold but that is gunna cost me heaps so i might have to pass on that, but the Z20E manifold just needs injectors, fuel rail and ECU, i am absolutely blotto and singing my head off to old pearl jam songs... but let me just sat the Black Label Society cd The Blessed Hellride has to be my theme cd for my nav and datto build.
