Yep. Pick up a spanner and get to work!

BigE in NSW is definitely one of the best.

damn - I need an opinion on what the hecks wrong with mine, don't want to buy a replacement engine just to find out a decent set of carbies would have done the job, or visa versa

Well write-up your issue in the main forum and see what advice you get. There is a pretty high chance that someone has had the same problem/s that you are encountering.

Be sure to give a good explanation of what you have and what the symptoms are also include pics or videos and that helps.

Or write what your problem is on this thread?

ok, I have an undetermined air leak, causing car to only run with choke on, and badly. there's no water in my oil (no milk) and i put new gaskets in the carbie, reset the float, cleaned the jets, etc etc, i can't see any cracks in the manifolds, nore on the head/block, and she's not running hot.. so wanted a trustworthy mech to pressure test cylinders, and wd40 leak test manifolds carby hence wanting to know where you lot took yout cars

Have you tried another carb/manifold altogether?

Work on eliminating all the variables, clean fuel, timing good etc etc.

You could spray aerostart round the manifold flange and see if the engine note changes (be careful).

give tomo a call. but the aero start will also show if there is a leak, not onto a hot exhaust though
