Hey everyone,
I'm building a 1200 Wagon with a CA18DET.
I just want to know people's suggestions on what radiator to use.
I was thinking about getting an aluminium one, and don't want to spend too much. I also want it to fit nicely.
I'm assuming it can't be too thick, as the fan will hit the engine otherwise, and also has limited width and height.
What have people used in their conversions??

Cheers - Tim

i have an N14 pulsar in my ute but i have an A12 going in ,and it worked good when it was infrront of my A14 ,the only thing you might have to do is make mounts of the bottom rail of the radiator support and then mounts of the radiatopr support at the top

and then you will have to make a straight pipe from the bottom radiator 5hose on the radiator and across to the hose on the engine ,as the hose is on the wrong side at the bottom

i have also heard of people using standar silvia CA radiators as they should fit and if the fan fits ,you could put a thermo fan on it and then you will have less drag on the engine aswell

hope this helps

Just use the original CA radiator they fit pretty snug. we just trimmed the bottom tabs right down and tacked some pipe to the bottom rail for the remaining bit of tab to sit in with a rubber washer on each for a bit of give then just make some mounts on the top tabs. In our case just used long thin bolts and made spacers then put them through the radiator support to the small holes on the sides of radiator towards the top worked well.

In my CA18DET 120Y I have a CA S13 radiator with a 12" Davies, Craig fan. It works great but gets hot in traffic. I'm not sure if that's a weakness of the radiator, or the fan.

Just grab one of the $200 32mm thick ali ones off Ebay mate. Put a couple of 10" or 12" thermo fans on the back and it should stay cool.

The stock S13 ones are fine unless you intend to race it or get stuck in traffic. They simply don't hold enough coolant to keep the motor cool in those situations.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.
I was leaning towards one of the ebay ali ones, just wasn't too sure if the S13 sized ones would be be too high.
I'll have a suss.
Cheers! :)

Height won't be an issue. Pm me your email address and I will send through some photos when I return to brisbane.

im thinking of using N14 pulsar radiator and thermos, the radiator in my pulsar handles the QLD heat and comes standard with twin thermos, not sure of the dimentions and stuff though will have to do some measuring.

The $43 volkswagen aluminum radiator is a perfect fit in the 1200.
