wardy mate i hope thats true because i want to have my coupe on the road by christmas, i know for fact it wont be done by 31 sept, but my older brother on the other hand has been doing his own project(modded Baja Bug {5 year proj}) and it will be finished by mid next week as he has been working on it 24/7 for the last two months as his boss had informed him about wat was discussed at the meeting, as his boss is one of only three or four people that do blue slip inspections for cars in area and he suggested that if he wanted the bug to ever see the road it wolud have to be completed reg and enginereed by 31 sept 2010 i will be ringing athol mullins(local engineer) tommorow and ask of requirements for modded vehicles and if there are any changes that he knows of or has heard of,because i rang him when i started project for the requirements for my car to pass engineer and rego and i have forfilled all requirements

yeah there is probably no doubt that something like this will happen in the years to come. But i dont think they can just do it without letting ppl know. One of my best mates dad is a blueslip inspector in the area, also the authorised EPA tester for wagga wagga and he hasnt heard anything.. so i dunno we will just have to wait and see. Might just turn the 1200 into a race car if thats the case

that just means even more people will just put them in till they get pulled up and swap it all out for slipping the get it passed and put it back in!! they should make things strict but make things easier or cheeper to make car fans do the right thing and by the books

notice was given in around 2008 , the rulings were never adhered to but they will be soon ( so I hear)If you don't think they will or can, have a look at what they have done to the import laws ( if you import a vehicle that was modified after 1989 it will be considered that it was manufactured in the year it was modified and will need to comply with that years ADR's.I have a friend who has thousands of dollars worth of mustangs sitting in customs that they will never be able to sell or recoup any money on unless they send them back to the USA.

yeh the rules regarding imported vehicles has been around for a while now.. having owned a few in the last 4 years it has been a royal pain in the arse..

I knew i had read about this ^^ somewhere, its only just a proposition at this stage though, nothing is set in stone, and lets hope it doesnt.. they just need to be more strict on the engineering sid eof thing to ensure the vehiclews are safe for the road.. not ban them all together

ok, most of what has been said is pretty much rot.
basically the deal is, if you have a datto with a ca18 or whatever, you must get it modded at one place( a similar system to qld modding ) but you will have to get your blue slip)or roadworthy or whatever you want to call it.) from a different workshop. so your engineer cant blue slip his own work.(kinda like a double check.)
as for the car having to meet the adr's of the current day, thats a load of poo poo.
this will only apply to an icv.
