Okay I'll ask it as it is;

Was there a GL or GX version of the 2 door? I didn't think so but confirmation would be appreciated.

If I were to restore my 2 door to a DX standard what equipment would I need to make it true DX version (should I say replica?).

Grill (GX GL style as above image)
Dash (GX , GL Syle as above)
Steering Wheel (as above image)

What else was included in these DX models? I thought they featured the GL GX Bonnet but they never had these, is that correct?

The bonnet supplied was more dependant on the year od manufacture, the GL/GX facelift bonnet was only fitted to B110's after 72. Im thinking a DX was more of a STD spec car with a few options above totally std. e.g cig lighter, radio etc

Hey Benny,
Yeah grill was definitely featured on the DX 2 doors but I have no images/info of the inside of the car. Not too fussed about the bonnet as they cost a fortune anyway!

You scored up a 2dr Chris?
Mine is a GL and came with the standard bonnet and standard metal grille, cant notice many changes from the other models but I didn't get the original steering wheel, center console, radio and gearknob.

EDIT: Does anybody have a spare side GL badge? I am missing one :).

Yeah a while ago now.

So what is the story with your GL? are you sure it is because all other GL's share many of the GX components. How do you tell if it's a GL?

So if you didn't get the original steering wheel and centre console, radio and gearknob what did you get? Or do you mean you bought all these afterward?

Good to hear Chris!
The GL badge (only one) was still on the car when I bought it, the steering wheel etc I bought afterwards.
The steering wheel is a GX option wheel not GL.

Yeah I dunno, GLs are very close behind a GX so I'm surprised it didn't already have all the fruit on it. OR maybe the Aussie GL's were simply issued a different badge, which wouldn't really make sense for a model that is supposed to be a GL.

I don't want to make mine into a GX because they were never sold as a GX.

But I guess it'll never be a true GL either so I might as well go for the stock look.

EDIT: RE: That side badge that's right where the GX ones sit on a four door so I'd be interested to hear what else your car had on it? However it looks different to the GL 1200 badges I've seen?

I was told they were not sold in Aus only privately imported ,mine had been partially stripped and bits replaced with tacky aftermarket crap.
Also the car has never had a complience plate fitted, so I was asuming it was imported but not sure.
Some pics would be nice mate!

No way, no pics till I actually start on it!

Yeah I dunno, no one seems to know much about them really. John Boston had a few but I don;t know him well enough to ask him what the deal was with their importation etc.

And as for numbers first people were saying there are 20 in Australia, then a couple of years later people are saying there are 10, and now I can only count six 2-dr's in Aus.

Levey
oan878
NA SR20 in NSW
Shaun (John Boston's old one)
Adam here in Adelaide
And now the one I bought.

So who knows how many there are in Aus?

Wait there was one more that Benny was telling me about. I think Tappet bought it and sold it off again. But the chap before him was the one that did it up. He was on here recently with a R.I.P write up on someone he knew who had passed away, can't remember his username. I think his name was Mark somemone?

Chris
