I was thinking last night....... All I'm doing is buying $hit, when am I actually gunna to do something with it all!!
I need to get an engine crane. I pinched one from work for a while but I really need to get my own.
Bit hard to fabricate engine mounts when I can't actually put the engine in the ute to see where it needs to go!
Now that I'm keen on buying the other ute too it's diverted my focus!
I need divine intervention.

Ok, very little to report unfortunately. Parenting duties seem to crop up as does the C.B.F (couldn't be f'd) reflex due to being more tired than normal!

What I've mainly been working on is getting the engine mounts sorted. I'm still playing around with a few ideas but at this point I'm going to use a VW Golf rear intrusion bar (!!) that I've cut the mounting section off. I'll post some photos when I get a chance so you can see what the hell I'm talking about!
I've also been fiddling with the front brakes. At this point I'm going to run VT Commodore calipers and hubs/discs to get the same stud pattern as my Commodre diff.
Getting a bit ahead of myself but I'm thinking of running good old Walkinshaw rims that I used to love back in the day when I liked Commodores. Dunno if they'd work but worth looking at! (Pictured below).
Just need to get a few things machined down to find out if these brakes are going to work. Hope it dos cause I've hacked the $hit out of my Stanza hubs to find out! I need to get the centre of the Commodore hub machined out so it fits over the top of the Stanza hub and then machine down the Stanza hub so it all still sits in the right spot for the disc to line up with the caliper. I'll also need to get 4-5mm taken off the diameter of the disc as the Stanza caliper mounts sit a bit closer to the strut. I'd rather come down a few mm on the disc than stuff around with caliper spacers. If it works man it will stop! The discs are 296mm (less what I take off) and the twin piston calipers have a huge disc coverage. Might need to upgrade the rears but I'll see what it's like once it's working and I've boosted them.

Got stuck into the engine mounts again today. Really just making it up as I go, got no idea what I'm doing! Seems to be working so far,
This is the rear intrusion bar that I've stolen the mounts from-

This is the mount once removed-

I pinched the engine crane from work again so dummied up where the engine will sit so I can be a bit more accurate with my mounts. Looks like it was made to in there I reckon!

Hopefully finish right mount tomorrow (gotta love a public holiday!) and then start chopping out the trans tunnel.
Good to actually get some $hit done finally.

love the use of the rear intrusion bar moutns lol, resousceful and should be stong enough to pass engineering as they were designed as structual supports for a rear end crash.

looks like you have the position sorted. now remeber 1200rc and demaco's engieeners rules, welded on 3 sides, looks like you will be able to pass those easily then.

tunnel wont be too bad, use a 120y tunnel like pig dog, made it soo easy to fit in, and has enough clearance.

The "welded 3 sides" was ringing loudly in my head as I made them! I'm glad I read Demacoz's updates last night or I may have done it a bit differently! I planned the mount so that would be possible. I'm gunna be pushing the 10mm around the engine rule in a few places but I've got a big relocaterator that should fix the close bits!
Was Piggy's tunnel a 120Y auto or just a manual? Anyone got one??!!

ah nice work, you will soon overtake me. i have been considering putting the white ute on hold and bringing the black one up and finishing off the SR conversion, not really sure which way to go but seeing a sr in a 1200 engine bay brought back memories, love it mate.

120y is the same tunnel for auto and manual- so just use that. the only thing diffent is the x member as both mounting points are in the tunnel already.
