I have a 1976 1200 ute which had i dunno if they were standard or not but it had a disc front end, anyway dad used to drive it and it never wore out pads, it sat in the shed for 10 years or so then we took it out and did it up rebuilt everything painted it etc put a 1400 motor in it, anyway dad drove it down from out house in new south wales down here to tassie everything was fine, had it on the road down here for about a month was driving heard a grinding noise the outside left pad was worn out to metal, replaced the pads they lasted about a month, found out there was a crack in the rotor which explains it, got hot opened the crack and wore the pads out.
so what i did was went down to the local wreckers they had a 120y which was owned by an old lady that didnt thrash it lol
i got the calipres and rotors out of it, put them in my ute the rotors look pretty new no cracks or wear marks, put an ew set of brake pads in and they wore out in about a month and a half again, i do have a tiny leak in my brake system somewhere i have to top up one of the bottles in the master cylinder from half way or so to full about every 2 weeks,
does anyone have any idea why my pads are wearing out so quick? its really giving me the #OOPS#s big time

Sounds like they are engaged when you aren't pressing the pedal? Ever so slightly.

could the front caliper pistons be seized or sticking riding on the rotor?? rebuild could solve it as im not sure any other reason why it would go in a month unless its some chinese pads

and never use those feredo or what ever its called there rubbish they were worn out in a few weeks and dust all over my wheels just used it coz they ran out of bendix thats all i recomend you use!

The first assumption would be sticky pistons in the calipers but very unlikely to be the same problem in two sets!
Next will be either a blockage in a brake hose. Sometimes they perish inside and act like a one way valve. If the problem is in one wheel predominantly then pull that hose off and check iternally.
Lastly if that's not it then it will almost definately be the master cylinder. $20 will get you a rebuild kit and a bottle of brake fluid. Easy job to do. Good luck!

also you were saying theres brake fluid leak if theres air gotten into the system it could cause sticking of the pistons!
