So I just received my spare 1uz motor today, and it just so happened that the datto has its motor out at the moment.

I knew it would be close, but I didnt think it would fit so well.

Got a couple of photos for anybody else thinking of something crazy like this.

Bear in mind the following:
- It is just hanging from a block and tackle, its too far toward the drivers side, its also rotated.
- There is no sump on it hence why its not lowered right down (dont want to scratch the sump face or rotating assembly) But there is a lot of room below it, id guess it would fit under

the bonnet if dropped in completely.
- There is a bit more then an inch of clearance at the firewall end as it is pictured.
- I'd guess a few inches clear between valve cover and strut towers each side.
- you could use the normal water pump if you modified the radiator support.
- if running an electric water pump i think you would get away without rad. support mods.
- theres a surprising amount of room for headers. (Will get more photos in daylight if anyones interested)

I am very doubtful any state would allow this to be passed for road use, but anyone looking to build something for track/strip/fun with arse loads of power potential and keeping it all

Japanese it might be a goer.

Enjoy...

¡Fúckin awesome! I've always dreamed of a v8 in a small car, the fight between left brain and right? My understanding is you could get it regeristered but it would need to meet new car design standards which are much more comprehensive. A bit of reading and communicating with a certified compliance engineer needed I'd think.

Yeh its very tempting just for laughs, Individual constructed vehicle is a whole world of bullshit. Better off building your own kit car and putting a fibreglass datsun body over the top...

Would be fun to just dump it in and drive around for a while...
...but I'm pretty sure there are severe penalties for doing that these days :D
