Temp guage

was just wondering if anyone has had proablems with there temp gauge sticking, i replaced the sensonr in the thermo housing...... and the temp guage works, but only goes just past the last cold line it wont go any further.

it is the stock gauge in the dash.

maybe its just not that warm? my gauge does that all the time... but if i leave idling for ages it rises up to half way...

Never had a gauge stick in that manner on any vehicle.

Sounds lke the thermostat is stuck partially open ... it warms up a little, but since it can't close all the way, it never reaches full temperature.

Perhaps it would be a good idea to confirm the gauge is definitely the culprit.

Turn on the ignition to the "ON" position, take the wire off the temp sender unit on the engine and connect it directly to the negative terminal. In a perfect world, the gauge should shoot straight to the top as if it overheated in a second. That will help identify the problem...if it still only goes to just above the cold mark, then it is a physical issue. If it DOES go straight through to the top of the gauge, then it isn't the gauge.

it did end up being the stock gauge getting pyshically stuck and having issuse's. so i decided not to take a chance on it, and got a after market electrical temp guage and its is reading fine now
