The grille is 1971-1973 Datsun 1200 2-dr Sedan & 4-dr sedan. The 1200 pickup used that grille 1971-1978.

The mirrors are generic bullet mirrors. Bprojects sell them mail-order.

I love the summertime. Last month I went to an 850-vehicle car show and won a Best in Class award.
It might have been the smallest class "Best Japanese Vehicle" -- I counted 10 japan vehicles.

To put icing on the cake, I noticed the A14 was smoking after I got to the car show. That's the trouble buying someone else's project. The engine probably only has 5000 miles on it.

Top work dd! SO the engine is blowing smoke again?

I haven't fixed the engine yet, after first noticing the smoke last month.

Now today I removed the engine, it took me 1 hour 32 minutes. Now the hard work begins!

no power tools, so it took 1:30 to remove

They forgot to put grease on it!

So smokey engine, wheel falling off and non greased parts. Hope you give it a through going over once new a14 in there to see no other issues. It's a tidy rig

The wheel falling off was my fault. I had put the wheels on and then I remember thinking "i'll finish it tomorrrow", but then didn't drive the 1200 for a couple of months. I forgot to tighten one of the wheels. Lesson learned, always finish the job once started.

I got a suprise when I took the clutch off:




Flywheel and clutch look new ... that's nice.
The disc is stamped "RS200"
No wonder it had such a quick disengagement. Almost like on/off, but not a in a jerky way, it was smooth but you couldn't modulate it very much. Like halfway between a stock clutch and a racing clutch.
