you have to make your own brackets to mount it on your radiator support.. ill try and take a pic of mine for you.. i found a good pic on this forum, maybe do a search for mounting metal grill, it should come up.. pm me if you cant find it..

spent a bit of time polishing up the chrome parts of my front end/grill.. elbow grease and autosol has been my best friend while sitting on the lounge at night watching crap tv..

also sent my stuts away , new shocks, and had new step nuts machined to fit s13 camber tops on the top... they look a bit ragged so ive put brand new allen key bolts, lock nuts and polished the camber top plates before installing them back into the car.

now that my struts, camber tops springs etc are back on the car its time to move onto my brakes. I have chosen the popular swap of ca18 brakes and calipers onto my datsun which bolt onto 1200 struts using a trick little mounting bracket and attach to existing engine bay brake lines. This is a relatively easy and powerful upgrade for datsun 1200's once you can find/make the mounting bracket and source the parts eg calipers, rotors (which i have bought brand new!!) and pads pf course which i bought new bendix pads when superheap had a sale... a more than adequate upgrade for the engine swap i have performed.

next up is the front of the car.. once i have polished up all the chrome headlight surrounds and grill trims etc it was time to move onto my badge and grill. I have spent a long time searching for this badge and it is plastic with a chrome coating which needed quite alot of work to come up looking nice.

before

after

[/IMG]

next was to repaint the red and blue sections of the badge and attach it to the grill. Then fit the metal grill to the front of my car, my car was built to fit the later plastic grill which looks awful so mounts needed to be made to fit the metal grill and allen keys used to fasten it all together.

i am fortunate enough to have two of these metal grills , this one was previously painted black, which i have since repainted as the paint was dodgy. and a bare metal one which down the track will be chrome dipped as hand polishing has proven to be hard work. for now i think i can live with the black grill look.

Great build.. like the attention to detail.

Where did you get those camber tops?

Cheers

Yeah they fit under 14s , my 3 sets of rims are all 14's and fit pretty easy!!!!

And the camber tops are second hand off a s13.... So many bits and pieces off other cars on this truck :)

made up a radiator overflow bottle , due to the blue anodised bits in my engine bay i saw this metal drink bottle in supercheap and thought it would be perfect. some drilling, some fittings and radiator clamp and a aluminium bracket ends up looking like this!!!
