G'day guys,

Just thought I would post up some new pics of my new toy which I happily took possession of keys today.

I bought it off a 61 year old bloke in the country town of Sale.

It is a 1971 Datsun 1200 Coupe. Original 88,000 Miles. Just some quick specs and pics!

Engine
Rebuilt A15 including new rings, bearings, welsh plugs, water pump and all new gaskets. Engine balanced and bored 1mm with matching flat top pistons. Modified oval port head including resurfacing, valves lapped and valve stem seals replaced. Standard valve springs. GX Twin Carbs.

Cam Specs - .326 Inlet .326 Exhaust . Exhaust opens at 77 degrees and closes at 42 degrees Inlet opens at 42 degrees closes at 77 degrees. Exhaust duration is 243 degrees. Inlet duration is 243 degrees. Inlet lobe lift @ TDC on the overlap .106 degrees.
Compression ratio is approx 10 to 1 plus.

Transmission - A60 Series 5 Speed. Clutch & Flywheel Standard.

Suspension
Front - 1984 TRX Bluebird shortened struts with Camira inserts (1 deg Negative Camber), Rebuilt front end.
Rear - Standard Leaf Springs, Heavy Duty Shockers.

Brakes - FRONT & REAR '84 TRX Bluebird Discs and Callipers. '84 TRX Bluebird Master Cylinder and Datsun 120Y Booster.

Diff - Datsun 1200 Ute Housing with '84 TRX Bluebird center 3.89 Gear Ratio.

Other14” Alloys. Original GX Bonnet, GX Stripes and GX-5 Analogue Clock.

Planning on making the interior like new again...need some original front seats.

After that, I'll probably just enjoy it for the time being.

Down the track I'm either planning on a CA18DET or SR20DET. I have also been reading a bit about converting the A series to EFI and running a turbo setup...Undecided at this stage.

Just happy with it the way it is at the moment and stoked to finally be driving a car I have always loved and wanted!

Thanks for the comments guys.

@unfamilia - All I can say is if that thing ever gets finished it is going to be one hell of a ride...If the person that bought it knows what they are doing...you should see that thing in the mags! A lot of work and thought gone into it.

Guys you might have noticed in the pics that the front guards have been bent in to prevent the 14" wheels from touching. It also scrubs when you put the car into a decent corner.

I'm sure this is the problem with most 1200's with bigger wheels...can you guys point me in the right direction toward and article or post on this topic and the best way to combat it. Is it a suspension adjustment...wheel size and offset?

Help much appreciated!

Mines the same, I found using a lower profile tyrewith less of a protruding side wall helped, as did some adjustable castor rods. Just extra thread on the stanza ones.

I reckon yours is from Tyres and track increase from front struts.

What size tyre on there?

At the moment it has 175/65R14 both front and rear.

My front struts are shortned '84 TRX Bluebird Struts with Camira Inserts. Brakes are also '84 TRX Bluebird.

I am eventually wanting to put some real deep dish JDM style wheels on it. But want to stop the scrubbing for now? Are most peoples guards modified? I think it looks crap how it's bent back atm.

Firstly can anyone tell me where to get a front chin spoiler and bobtail like the one on this.

Also does anyone know if these guards have been pumped or they are flares which have been frenched in.

Anyone no the name of the wheels and their size and offset?

Help much appreciated!
