I've got a lovely console & was all set to install it into the coupe & when I started to fit the clock to the console it doesn't fit! I think I must be missing some kind of adapter plate/bracket that holds the clock to the console. According to the wiki there's supposed to be something like this : "27389-H2300 SPACER FIXING CLOCK TO CONSOLE BOX"

heres the console & clock

backside - you can see the mount tabs/holes don't line up plus their all the way up against the back side of the console & the mount tabs for the console are at least an 1" away - I assume there has to be some kind of spacer mount thing I'm missing....

Looks like your clock originally came from the dash? You're definitely lacking the mounting bracket to fit the console

I'm pretty sure I used the standard console blanking plate bracket on my clock to mount it, did you remove the plastic "Datsun" blanking plate and test for fitment?

I got the clock with a bunch of misc parts I bought a while back so no brackets or anything else with it. The blanking plate wont fit as the depth is too shallow - the clock wont mount & it'd need a hole for the clock ti slip thru to make it work.

Anybody have one of the clock mount brackets? Otherwise I'll improvise & make some mounting tabs.

You are totally right, I must have been thinking about a custom fitting I have made in the past to fit the clock with the original blanking mount, it's been a while. Here is a pic of my dodgy mounting bracket :)

This was mine. Pretty sure it was original before I sold it:

thanks for looking guys, yeah it's a weird plate/mount thing I guess. What the hell is that spring / steel rod for - how does that hold it in?

I like the strap method, seems simpler then my individual mount tab idea I was toying with.

The mats came in the same batch of misc parts I got the clock out of as well as the cowl vents I repaired & sent to Carps. I scrubbed the hell out of the mats then I had the brilliant idea of using SEM bumpercoater paint to change the red inset color on the drivers side......didn't work well, maybe I can scrub the paint out of it again - I liked the red better.

In the infamous words of Herman Cain - oops!
