I'm in the process of building up an 85 model
with CA18DET but haven't spoken to an Engineer yet. A friend got his SR20DET 1980 model engineered a few years back. I think a place in Carrum Downs approved it. What hassles are you having as I may face the same ones.

P.S. What suburb are you in?

Hey mate my engineer is telling me that to get mine on the road I need to comply with adr 27a which basically means that to pass emissions you must have a totally standard engine turbo, computer intercooler ect.Otherwise he said I would have to run it on straight gas.

This sort of stuffs things up if you have allready got a bigger cooler or different engine managment

let us know if you speak to that engineer of you mates to see what he says

ps im in kilsyth

Goto another engineer, some engineers just won't want to approve such conversions where as other ones will

cheers

Hey I work in Wantirna South, so I'm probably just down the road from you.
I wouldn't mind having a chat and checking out your ute if you're interested.
I'll see if I can find the name of the place that engineered my mates ute for you. I've
also got the name of another engineer but I haven't spoken to him. Give me a call on 9886-2016 during the day or till 6:30pm most nights.

If i remember rightly, ADR27A is most likely the standard that applied to your original car. My 1980 Datsun 200B is ADR27A compliant.
If they required you to comply with the standard that applied to your engine's donor car, you would have more of a problem.
27A should be a doddle.

Even the series 1 Bluebird became ADR27B compliant, & that was about 22 years ago.

Yeah that would be cool mate the main problem im having is that ive been told that I must use a standard intercooler but mine was damaged when I got the front cut so I was just going to get a custom one
