Hmmm ... much lighter than the R160 that has been swapped into 1200s.

$100 on Yahoo

It's Hitachi R145, the baby brother of the Hitachi R160 that was fitted to the Datsun 510 and zillion of Subaru. It's from the Nissan X-Trail.

No LSD ... but is 2.466 gear ratio and has an electric coupling.

The March K11 version has hydraulic coupling.

LSDs are available from Nissan (viscous) and from Cusco (mechanical).

Gearsets
2.466
3.357
3.692
3.700

Can it disconnect via the coupler? R145 also came in standard form without a coupler.

I'm not sure, but I think most R145s are cast iron and same size as the R160 (as in the GTiR).

Here's another alloy R145, it has hydraulic coupling at the front

Best of all, LSDs are plentiful and cheap. Only $584 brand new from Nissan USA. It is the viscous type. These are for the long-nose R145 (looks like an R160).

Using B13/B14/B15 or N14/N15 rear suspension might be narrow enough. The latter had a disc brake option (GTiR with R145 and optional disc brakes).

I think all the R145 are alloy housed DD but not sure that the coupling would play fair with an LSD you have to lock it somehow but would love it without the coupling and lsd anyday of the week for my 593kg baby
