no way smurf, your car is too cool and way too well built to just do hill climb

hill climb is fun but hanging around for an 8hr day you get one run an hour at about 1.5minute each run..... far too much waiting around, taking your car on cruises and for late night drives is too great to pass up!

no cage.... no worries

my CADET 1200 doesn't have one either, did a few rallies years ago without one, done quite a few autocross and a hillclimb without, just did a VRC rally as a sweep car in my daily driver ae101 corolla, no cage and road tyres lol, still gave it heaps and was only dropping 1-1.5mins on 12minute stages

i may put a half cage in my CADET, just as you could put a roll bar in the tray

Congrats on doing a not common conversion mate.In fact ive never seen another evo datsun build as of yet..

I know its very obvious, but evos are quick factory spec.you are dropping a 4g63 turbo into a much much lighter car. With such a potent power to weight ratio, I can only imagine how quick this Frankenstein will be and would definately recommend a roll cage mate.
are you planning on modifying this engine or leaving it stock?

One of a build mate.
keep it up!

Hahaha, yeah I work 7am till 3pm 5 days a week... The diff do far is all me old man... Haha I don't really know how I am getting him to help me, he is 61 now and still building cars...

A12grunt, thanks heaps !!! I am extremely obsessed with evo's, they are so much fun !! The roll cage is a great idea but the engineer reckons nothing can protrude from original trim.. I am going to run a main hoop outside the cabin and prob some supports back down to the rear wheel arches.. Will run it at stock power until I get used to driving it then ramp her up a little...
