With bolt on flares, 3 piece mesh wheels or other period wheels, spook spoiler, gt long neck guard mirrors, sv6 internals, sv6 supercharger, all alloy TA performance block, sequential 5 speed from Dons shop, Strange alloy rear end with 5 link it would be hard to go back to a 1200 datto in any hurry.

All I ask is "why"? I have had a couple of Vega's and was not very impressed with the build quality. The Vega cannot compare on the fun factor scale with the 1200 in my opinion. That little alloy TA block could be stuffed in the Datsun, and would make a lot lighter package. Sorry, I will stick with my B110.

A great alternative to the 1200 coupe might be the 1000 coupe:

Or maybe, possibly? The B310 coupe. Roomier, better riding, but with that same great fuel economy.

I saw a 1000 overseas one time in the early seventies, and wow was that a tiny car. It had a small a-arm suspension, not strut. I bought a '78 B210 2 dr sedan back in 1998, auto, no A/C, and the factory radio delete. I got it from an elderly lady that could no longer drive. Never should have sold the car, and I had the unique experience of actually seeing it being crushed at the Pick 'N Pull a couple of years later. That little sedan got excellent gas mileage for an automatic, and handled really well.

The Vega Styling is pure bliss though, those tailights are crazy.
If you guys ever find a nice Vega that hasnt seen salty roads
let me know its doing my head in. Much nicer than expensively
priced Holden Toranas here. The Buick V6 in alloy is just what
the doctor ordered, simple, big capacity, light & cheap parts.

I like my datto coupes better but got a crush on these atm :(

Most guys put smallblock Chevys in the Vega, which are a dime a dozen. There is a guy down the street that collects Vegas. He has got a nice stock '72 hatchback with the 2300 four banger and a four speed. Years ago D&D Fabrications made a kit to put the B-O-P (Buick-Olds-Pontiac), now Rover, alloy V8 in the Vega. It made a light, peppy car with the Muncie aluminum four speed.

PM me "D", and I will ask his price, and if he is open to ship it.

Reminds me of the old GT V6 Ford Capri.

The Vega is much smaller than the Torana. But still bigger than a 1200.

My '71 1200 coupe with vinyl roof and four speed only weighed a hair over 1600lbs
and that was with a full tank of gas, on the CHP truck scale.
A comparable '71 Vega 2300 GT hatchback was listed at a bit over 2300lbs with 1/2
tank of gas.

good looking car yes... but....tell us the facts D!
