Hi all,

I urgently need to replace the stuffed alternator on my coupe - its making terrible grindy noises and I don't think it's going to last much longer!

If anyone in the Toowoomba, Brisbane, Gold Coast areas has one lying around that they aren't using and don't want too much for, can they please let me know?

I'm really broke at the moment and cant afford to go and get a new one.

Also if anyone knows of another alternator off another engine that will fit and work (ie. L-series?) that would be cool too ...

I can get a photo of the alternator if required

Hi Charlie,

Direct replacement is the 35 or 50 amp:
76-76 F10 (A14)
71 P510 (L16)
71 P520 truck (L16)
73-79 620 truck (L18, etc)

Others are Falcon, and presumably most early 80s Nissan.

you could try replacing the bearings if it still charges, just remember to hold the brushes back on reassembly.
