Ca parts question

Hi guys can anyone tell me what the name off this part is and whats its purpose.It connects to the right cam gear on the outside off the cam cover so im guessing it has something to do with the cams,also it has a mitsubishi symbol in the centre on the black part.

Its called a CAS sensor normal name crank angle sensor

Probably the most important sensor for an EFI car.
As above, provides the ECU with Crank and Cam position.

cam angle sensor. lots of different names for different cars. when you upgrade you cas you use Hall sensors which can be mounted on the crank or cam

If the shaft still spins just clean it up. Cost for a new one is pretty high if you don't know where to look
