I recently noticed that my left inducatir or signal lights are not working even the one in the dash board, I'm not even getting the tick tick noise that it makes. I tought was a fuse problem but it wasn't and the right side is working fine. I checked all the bulbs on the left side and they are all good. What do you'll think can be causing this problem and what can i do to solve it?

If your not getting the relay working (click click noise) then the next bit up the chain is the indicator stalk.

This stuff is getting damn old now. I had a dodgey stalk that wouldn't select the headlights well. Not good losing your lights intermittantly at night!

Anyway i just cleaned all the contacts thoroughly (grease from friction points had worked it's way onto the contacts) then gave them a polish.

Also the various springs had lost a bit of tension so i packed up the recesses the springs were sitting in with little balls of paper so thereby beefing up the tension and getting a better contact.
More professional would be to stick in new springs!
It's all been working well for several years now.

Of course you could just get a new stalk section but that may well have/get the same problem as yours in the end

(Before you pull it all apart just check first you havent got a broken wire between the stalk and the indicator relay. unlikely but mabey thats it)

Most likely it's the flasher unit. There are a couple of types so pull out your old one before going to the nearest "autopro" or other generic car parts place. If you don't know what it looks like, then it's probably time to replace it.

the few cars i've seen have only one flasher unit for the indicators (mabey a second for the hazards??)
since the right hand side is still working i'd say that the flasher is still OK.

Yes I think that you are right about the flasher unit. First I'd check that there is power getting to the left hand side. Do you have a light probe?? As this would tell you if A: you have power (+) B: ground/neg/earth (-). You need to find out this first before you go looking for other faults.

hey,
definately sounds like a wiring or contact problem, flasher units for the 1200 are only $5 so i would replace that first as you never know whats going on inside a datsuns wiring haha, you can replace the contacts in the stem with just brass sheeting you can bend and fold youself 2 the right shape. if all else fails replace the stem contacts with a 3 pole on / off / on switch.
