Custom forged pistons are only $400/set from Arias and other piston manufacturers.

Kamieiri is the most expensive brand in the world.

Looks like pistons can be bought at $40 each. The ring set is expensive though, so maybe try sourcing those locally. There might even be somebody cheaper, like

Sorry, just had a look at that last one, lots of junk, but maybe some of the links can help. Why not try going to a Subaru dealer & see what they can supply.

yes, will go and see what they have tomorrow, and also motor factors to see if they have copy ones...

Time on my hands today and i found these:
Toyota 3ZZ engine (from a corrolla... all taxis here are corollas and parts for these are very cheap) worth having a look at also...
