Hey guys, I just brought a 1200 wagon stocker and it seems to be running pretty crap, I've replaced the plugs and done the timing but seems to be more a fuel problem, the motor has been rebuilt and the carby has had a kit put through it, the fuel window on the front of the carby is as full as it can get and from my reading it needs to be within 1mm of the centre of the window, I've adjusted the float back to factory clearances and it's still full, any ideas as I'm no good with carbys after always having dattos with engine conversions I've never had to work on a carby
Cheers

if you have adjusted the float level and its still flooding you may have a bit of crap under the needle or its not seating, take the top off the carby, hold it upside down and make sure the float is holding the needle down, you can test buy sucking through the fuel inlet you should be able to hold a vaccuum [if that makes any sense] if you have an air comp a gentle blast may clean it out

Yes, that's probably it.

Another potential cause is a hole in the float so that it no longer floats. See Float repair.

Float seams to be touching it but not completely pushing the nipple in , but once the float is back in the fuel and floating it should be pushing it right up right?, I'm stuck

Yeah that's right.

I have the exact same issue right now.

When cranking there was a lot of fuel coming out from the acc pump rod rubber dust boot.

Found so much rubbish in the bowl. Flushed that out, cleaned out the float needle seat which was quite dirty, it stopped leaking. I think there is still heaps of rubbish to come through and I think I still need to go over it again with another clean or two. Looking in the window it looks like the float still needs a bit of adjustment.

Good luck resolving it Sean, might need a few goes at it.
