Hi,

Please refer to the photo.

I've looked at the engine bay index photo's and no-one seems to have it.

what is it?
do I need it?
if not, is it an easy removal?

It's a carbon canister, and most people don't notice when you chuck them out. 80's ute I take it?

Yes, the large black cylinder is the Fuel Tank Vent filter. It has a replaceable charcoal filter pad inside the canister to filter the fumes when the tank breathes. If you chuck it, it will smell like a 1970s vehicle.

The factory fitted it to the strut tower of later 1200s. See Carbon Canister

Law says you need it if post 74 or 76 in aus, otherwise it nay not be required unless you have a non original motor that requires one engineered into car.

lucky most of them fall off the car
