How hot Ignition coil and resister while normal operation ?

Hi Guys

I could not start my b310 today morning after a 10km drive away suddenly it stops and started it but it didn't keep running, after that i could not start it any more,found that no ignition , and coil was hot and also the resister was extra hot ,Replaced the coil with a new one and came home without any issue car was usual , after coming home also checked the new coil it was also hot and also resister , how hot it is on normal condition ? is it normal or is there any problem with my electrical system how can i find any problem with my ignition system ?

you should be able to touch the coil. hot coil usually because of improper point adjustment or the coil itself is bad. you still using point ignition? cjeck your point and replace the condenser too

yes, i can touch it but can't keep the hand more than few swconds,all my contact point condensar are new and adjusted accordingly

Hi Guys

I rechecked them again kept the car started about 10 minutes and checked them both can be touched resister was more hotter than coil body, i think it has no problem right now

Coil: can't keep the hand more than few seconds is normal

Resistor: Will get too hot to touch. It has a ceramic insulator because it get so hot.

Common causes of this are loose wires in or around the distributor. Could also be cause by a disconnected or block fuel return line, resulting in heat vapor lock. When the engine bay cools down it will start and run again.
