Today I was going to start work on my Torana today to get it ready for next years Mt. Tarrengower hillclimb, anyway I went into the shed and looked at the torrie half buried with junk and
then at my datto 1000 sitting next to it, I pondered the situation for a moment and thought bugger the torrie, it's time I got the datto going, which would be better any as I have a spare
a12 sitting in the corner that I can build into a road/race engine and still be able to use the datto (can't do that with the torrie).
Anyway, after all that, I have a few questions.

1. my datsun has being sitting idle for about 6 months without being started. Is there anything I should do/check before trying to start it?

2. where can I get some brake linings/shoes?

3.is it still possible to get a windscreen as mine has a small chip in it. I'll see if I can get it repaired first.

4. where can I get some extractors?

o.k I think that is it for now. Sorry 'bout the long post.

Gday Chris, Good call on leaving the torana to rust.

You can get new brake shoes at any repco or from Nissan. However if you are going to race, some disk brakes are probably a good idea. Email me off the list : twitch@bigpond.com ,
and I'll tell you how I converted my coupe to disks.

I think for starting the engine, it would be best to make sure oil/water levels are ok. Remove the power/ground to the coil, to stop the engine from starting straight away. Check that
the oil pressure light goes out. Reconnect the coil power, then get it going. Also check for puddles under the car to make sure the gearbox/diff haven't been leaking fluid everywhere.

Windscreens..I can still get some for my 1200..Maybe it's the same for 1000s call Obrians, or in Sydney Windscreen Discounters..they did mine for a good price. Apparently the trade price
is about AUS$100, Many places mark up to AUS$180 or so. As for extractors, it's getting hard to get a set. Might need to get some custom made.

Oh yeah, the torana might go better with the A-12 transplanted in :):) ( I am kidding )

thanks for the info, I give a few places a call during the week.

Does anybody know if the 1000 w/screen is the same in the sedan and the coupe, or are they different?

And what about putting two A12's in the torrie, one behind the other. the engine bay would nearly be long
enough, mmmmmmm...fun :)

The windscreens are different. The roof on the coupe is lower.
