After witnessing the Fuel Cell Hydrogen rollout that is occurring all over Japan and especially the Toyota Mirai and all its specs... it is.... a disaster! ugly un-economical but supposedly Chinese car makes wont be able to make this car for the next 15-20 years and shouldnt!!! as its a huge pile of garbage.

Japs have achieved 40% efficiency from their latest Fuel Cells or about a good diesel turbo equivalent.
Its final efficiency in the future is expected to be 60% max and incorporating complex heat exchanger within the vehicle to take up the rest as heat will be one ridiculous car.

Hydrogen Fuel Cell uses 3 times the energy it puts out and as stated 60% of the energy wasted is heat.

Funnily enough this car from England could have been a beast by today. 60 years of further development could be eons ahead of a Skyline GTR and any Toyota Hydrogen uggcar.

for those not aware here is the Rover JET cars

I didn't know about the Rover Turbines

I saw this at the Peterson museum in L A. 50 production were built and loaned to the public.

The 4th gen Chrysler turbine redlines at 44,500 rpm and could operate using diesel fuel, unleaded gasoline, kerosene, JP-4 jet fuel, and even vegetable oil. The engine can run on virtually anything with combustible properties and "Chrysler claimed the turbine could gulp everything from peanut oil to Chanel No. 5." The President of Mexico tested this theory by running one of the first cars—successfully—on tequila, after Chrysler engineers confirmed that the car would operate successfully.

The turbine car has some operational and aesthetic drawbacks. The car sounds like a giant vacuum cleaner, which was unexpected to consumers who were more familiar with the sound of a large American V8. That said, some observers admired the sound.

It may smell like eggs, but the Mirai is wonderful. I've been waiting for this since Chrysler drove their first experimental Fuel Cell vehicle in 1978. Then 14 years ago when Hyundai came out with the Hyundai Tuscon FCEV it was exciting even though it only had a range of 150 km with a top speed of 120 kph, it seemed like it was only a matter of time.

The Verge drove a Mirai in LA and said
Quote:
this is not an attractive car ... the car just drives like a car
* it only takes 5 minutes to fill the tank at a hydrogen station.
* has a hi-tech NiMh battery pack
* does 0-100 kph in under 10 seconds

The future is electric cars. And the Mirai proves it.

Like most reviewers controlled by the powers that be he is not
telling the truth except for the ugly comment as a 10 second
super complicated car with limited fill up locations is failed.
Even my good friend the CEO of a major gas company in Japan
has been pressured to buy a pump for his trial Green Servo staion
that is designed for EVs, CNG, LPG and bio-diesel company test cars.
He will not spend 1 million usd on a single pump even after the
supposedly subsidy of 600k USD. ENEOS group is asking CEOs throughout
Japan to fork out millions to put 2 pumps in their own service stations.
Especially to supply a couple of Mirai test cars even given to them.

The future is electric with carbon batteries not fuell cells as
ex-Nissan battery designer has got Elon Musk support for his new
pure carbon patented chemistry that will make Tesla leave Lithium.

Fuel cells are inefficient they are a limited architecture
they consume 3 times the energy they output and the best FC
will only be max extra 20% more efficient by 2020 and thats it.

Its just a monopoly plan that will fail as even the Chinese will
get lithium prices down or license Japans new pure Carbon batteries
for their future car industry. The fuel cell will only be a fad
that will keep consumers thinking they have the in thing.

Heres cheap enough (commonwhore price) EV for the masses
and a 700hp v8 killer that even a granny can drive it.

Are you talking about the Ryden dual-carbon battery? Carbon anode + carbon cathode is supposed to be the big breakthrough in lithium batteries.

Its gonna be interesting as MIT has a really nice break through as well and doing it now...http://techxplore.com/news/2015-02-so ... gy-battery-life-cars.html

ultra thin anode double the cap of current lithium batts vs Rydens lithium electrolyte with bio carbon architecture.

mmmm cant wait to see this pan out
theres also the aluminium air batt elon musk is investing in making sure he doesnt miss out anywhere and a preview of the 30k TESLA which is what I will get when available unless the Volt EV gets has good customer feedback.
http://techxplore.com/news/2014-06-al ... ric-car-aluminum-air.html

then again for 25k theres always this that easily can be tweaked or double the kws
http://www.autoblog.com/2013/08/05/ne ... turbod-suzuki-3-cylinder/

Heres another spin of the Fuel CEll but not using Hydrogen but some kind of patented ionic fluid - its actually looks impressive
http://techxplore.com/news/2015-02-qu ... r-shown-month-geneva.html

All the German makers have made electric prototypes and heres one that was at 2012 shows from audi and looks more like what people would buy as well
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia ... px-Audi_e-tron_spyder.jpg

yet toyota is giving away all its patents to encourage hyrdrogen use so this is a sign it cannot get enough H2 pumps out there

The Rover BRM finished 8th and 10th at LeMans
http://www.autospeed.com/cms/article.html?&A=113109
very close to the Howmet yet little development years
yet best combo turbine would be electric for lower revs
till the turbine is in full song and swoosh past others
