Hi Fella's, My 310 race car requires a 4 post master disconnect switch and I am unsure how wire it. How do I kill the "field" section of the alternator to guarantee total shut down of the entire electrical system?
Also what should I set the ignition advance to?
Engine is an A15, stock bottom end, big valve GX head, cam has 235dur@ .050, weber 40 DCOE carbs
Thanks for any help,
John D. (Mongo)

Run your charge wires from the alternator back to your battery or before your battery terminal switch. Otherwise your car will continue to run on the alternator even when the battery has been disconnected.

Use the stock alternator wiring. It has a separate F (Field) wire that is connected to the IGN circuit. Once you turn the key OFF, the alternator stops charging -- even if the engine is still spinning.

As datsa73 mentioned, the A (Alternator) output should go to the battery, so that it doesn't connect to the IGN circuit.

Set it to 7 degrees BTDC

Thanks for the wiring tips!
I am looking for total advance setting ,using mechanical advance only. Vaccuum is disabled.
Pics are forthcoming, car will be finished this week.

Stock A15 was 30 degrees total, but I expect 34 degrees is better.
