Question is, will that little block handle it? Sub-Assemblies aren't impossible to come by, but A14 blocks are fast becoming a rarity around here as everyone wants them and everyone keeps breaking them (Guilty). Boost is still beyond me. Guys at Eaton don't quite get the idea of having a turbo push air into one of their chargers, so they seem a bit skeptical about assisting me. If I could just get some of these individual companies to put their heads together...

I noted the EGI has 2 little throttle butterflies instead of one large butterfly. According to one or two throttle calculators, max throttle size shouldn't exceed 55mm if I plan to do traffic, but no where do i find a calculator that takes the fact that there's boost from idle into consideration. hmmm...

Oh, and I checked NISMO's site for Sylvia boxes....Wonder if have the right website.

Can those prices be in Dollars??

I don't see any.prices. I'd use an RB turbo gearbox or a big Yoda box.

The A block is plenty strong but remains to be seen how strong.

Been looking into tranny's for 300-500nm. Most standard gearboxes get negative comments when it comes to abuse. Seems I need a more race-orientated gearbox according to quite a few forums. Funny 'cause I've seen local 1000hp cars launch season after season on the same W58 and V160 boxes.

Anyone of you guys seen a production box good for 500hp abuse? Or do I need to look into something like the rebuilt Nismo S15 6-speed or Sadev?

The S15 is an Aisin unit, see 6-speed. Not sure how strong it is, some SR20 guys swap it out for the 5-speed for some reason.

* Nissan FS5R30A is said to handle up to 600 hp
* Yoda W58 is said to handle up to 500 hp
Take this with a grain of salt, because it is not accurate. It's how much torque a gearbox can handle that is important.

Of course there are always guys with other ideas, even some who think unless you spend $$$ it won't work - because it worked for them.

6-speed works great with a stock A12. First gear is 3.6264 in the 6-speed, steeper than a 60A 5-speed and nearly as steep as the stock 4-speed.

The best thing about 6-speed is you can fit a 4.88 final drive for quick acceleration, and still get extra fuel economy in 6th. Best of both worlds.

Hi liebonhardus do you have any pictutes of the way you modified the bell housing to fit the a14

Was it a cut and reweld of the a series housing?

Also what kind of issues did you have at high rpm?

Thanks

The engineer who did the mod is over in England. Will look for pics and post em up. I recall the engineer saying he cut the old bell-housing OFF and made a new one. Might be going nuts here. it was just over 9 years ago. The muppet hasn't been answering my mails for ages. The gearbox ran beautifully with 4.11 Diff. We never used 6th much though.

Only problems I had was coarse shifting between 3rd and 5th at higher rpms. In the city I never felt the difference. Was beautiful match with the A14. It wasn't that much stronger than stock A14. Had top-fed Nikki carb, moderate cam cut specifically for the motor, 12.2:1 Comp ratio, and some balancing, 57mm free-flow and few other little things. Was one of those "build as you earn" projects. GAVE IT AWAY - the noob I was....damn if I could go back and smack myself...

500 HP, your Dreamin maybe around 300 would be achievable or over 220 but useable on the road for sure but 500 forget it that would just be a hand grenade with the pin removed beyond 350HP.

Keeping it Nissan datsun research the Nissan March SuperTurbo which came ex factory with both a blower and a turbo but only a three cylinder 1 litre twincam 12 valve engine.http://jalopnik.com/is-this-twincharg ... tten-homologat-1653317711
