Hey guys, hope your all having a nice week :)

So i have been chasing a brake master for my 120Y for a while now
(1977 B210)

it currently has a PBR Brake master (Part number - P7217)

link = http://www.ebay.com/itm/111791105568? ... geName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

and i finally found one thats BRAND NEW... and i was doing alot of research and realized there is not much info on 120y's with a single reservoir brake master in the wikki...
theres info about them with a plate inbetween the booster and brake master body but mine dosent bolt on like that...

can anyone give me some info on them?
is it just a after market one that PBR made or is it a genuine brake master
i am so confused because the body of the brake master bolts in horizontally and all the other brake masters on ebay bolt on vertically

the reason i ask is because the ones that bolt on vertacilly are a quater of the price of the one that i need lol
and for around $200 i can get a 1" brake master from maddat....

thanks for any help i get !!

That is actually a dual-reservior master cylinder. There are separate chambers for front and rear circuits.

I've never seen that kind of master on any 1970s Datsun before, so it's probably aftermarket. However, Australian-assembled 120Ys came with Australian-sourced brakes (Girlock i think)

If your 120Y has a power brake booster, then it takes a different kind of master than a non-power 120Y.

Yep Aussie assembled datsuns got the pbr stuff. Either buy that one or call baz at daraport. He will have jap mc but you will need other booster to mount it.
Also you would need to mod brake lines. There are 3 that come out of pbr master. 2 for fronts and one for rear with a larger threaded nut.
Similar as stanza pbr set up. Shouldn't need to change mc for a few years so just get pbr.

It is a 3/4" master, used with a small booster. Mad Dat sells the small 120Y booster for CA18 swaps.

The B310 Sunny uses a larger 13/16" master along with a larger booster. The larger master reduces pedal travel (makes for firm pedal). It doesn't make the car stop any faster but may help with reaction times as you don't have to push the pedal as far down

There probably isn't enough room for the larger booster in a 120Y, so going to a larger master means more foot pressure would be needed. Going to a very large 1" master means you have to press considerably harder to stop the car

Why spend $250 on eBay if you can buy the same PBR P7217 at a local shop? In AUS local/national parts Shoppes don't usually advertise online, but they can get PBR parts. The eBay deal may be OK, but are they a good seller with a good warranty? Sometimes new masters are defective, so check out what kind of warranty they offer.

A new Datsun japan Booster & Master cylinder is only $150 here, but then you'd have to source the aluminum spacer adapters in used condition (two adapter pieces). It is the same diameter as the PBR part. Mad Dat sells the whole package with their own custom adapter.

Not to be rude dd but you need to understand our local market. A bit more.
He will struggle to find a brake shop or supplier that can find a non Holden or ford pbr master cyl in our country.
The shops don't tend to stock the datsun/nissan pbr stuff as so little demand and the market Is tiny by comparison.

Id try find the jap spec booster or a jap sec 120y being wrecked. Take the booster masyer nd front brake line set up too. Also the rear brake Line too. Will be way easier to source parts in future.
Otherwise call round most shops will be shutting for Xmas and try get a pbr one.

In that case maybe $250 is best deal that can be had for new. They sell PBR here in my country, say for Mazda, but no one carries the P7217 unit. I see that All Parts out of NSW sells it but they want $340.

Small market? Same here. There are likely more B210s on the road in AUS than in USA. Here we have to search around until we find the part.
