Stock dished pistons are 9:1 compression. If you go to 11:1 compression that is good for 5 additional HP, so definitely worth it. Also it will run fine on Premium fuel.

peterzekert.com sells A14 flattie pistons

Sure. Australia companies charge about double, but you are supporting the local economy so that's good

JP Pistons Australia do a custom A14

Could maybe use Isuzu 4XC1 flat tops if you bore the A14 1+mm OS
* Gemini, I-mark, Piazza
* Chevrolet Spectrum
* $28 each RockAuto.com
* 4 for $79 eBay
They have a compression height 0.1 mm taller than A14 so might work best with a 0.8 tomei head gasket (the Nismo head gasket is 0.6 so that's too thin?). You could also use a stock (thick) head gasket if you aren't too concerned about getting the most hp out of your build

Seems the Isuzu pistons have 18mm piston pins, not sure how those would work ...

I have used ACL Mazda E3 pistons with success.
You'll need to bore the rod little end to 20mm (easy job for an engine machine shop), then deck the block to suit the piston height which is a little under the Datsun piston height. I selected to use chrome rings not the standard cast iron rings.

If that is too much compression then you can select the Mazda E5 or the 1.6L MX5 pistons which both have a small dish, I think around 6cc from memory. lots of options...
