Hi everyone, I need some advice on piston rings and witch brand is good quality and available in South Africa for the A12?
Is the rings you get at the nissan agents any good?
I know Perfect circle was a very good option but I'm not sure if i'ts still available, the other option is Cofap witch I've heard is also good quality but availability is also a question.
Thank you in advance.

I have used both cofap and hastings rings both seem ok

If the bores are fresh rebored and honed i would look into chrome rings

Has anyone heard bad things about any brand of ring?

The Nissan ones are good, they need to warranty engines with them. Nissan USA sells Japan-made rings from Riken (Rik-Vent rings)

I would use plain cast iron rings, which work well and seal good -- after 40 years my Datsun engine still had good compression. Chrome rings are OK but need a finer cylinder hone. Moly rings are plain cast iron with a moly coating for quicker seating (not needed if the honing is correct and proper break-in followed)

Yer i agree cast rings are fine for a standard datsun engine, less issues during the break in period aswell.
