Hi everyone, I need some advice on piston rings and witch brand is good quality and available in South Africa for the A12? Is the rings you get at the nissan agents any good? I know Perfect circle was a very good option but I'm not sure if i'ts still available, the other option is Cofap witch I've heard is also good quality but availability is also a question. Thank you in advance.

Thank you for the info, gents. Its more a kind of dry soot than wet oily, it's not so long ago that I'f done a compression check but can't remember the figures, no oil use keep a close eye on that, I'm not sure how old the cap is, I'f converted to a d4r dizzy with its original cap, plug leads was changed recently no more than a year ago, I'll do some checks and let you know.

Just another thing you can check or actually replace is the condenser on your dizzy assuming it is a standard points dizzy and the contact breakers are good. make sure of the airgap on your contact breakers, if you change the gap, the timing has to be corrected.

I've used a 12" davies craig fan and have a 90 deg thermo switch in the bottom hose, no problem in stop and go traffic keeps the engine cool but on the highway it just can't keep up

Hi everyone, i've read through this topic and i keep thinking that back in the day when they build our datto's they were build to last, the only big issue is rust to the bodywork. I still believe that the new cars of today won't last near as long as our old datto's which, quite a few is 35 years and some older. I have a bit of experience with cars and the new cars with all the "fancy" electronics can be quite expensive and somewhat a pain in the but to repair, and some of which spare parts can be quite difficult to come by.
