So.many years ago I did a Stanza strut and brake upgrade on my ute. The ute was sold, but I've recently bought it back. Jumped in it the other day to give it a run around the block, only to find I almost had no brakes.

I mainly did the conversion at the time so I could fit 15" wheels. I was expecting better braking as part of the package too. But they were never that great..

Pulled off the left caliper and found it was totally seized. In the process I found that I had the lousy Stanza brake option that uses tiny pads and is no better than the 1200 Coupe disk brakes.

I spoke to ABS brakes the other day about a seal kit to put through them and he wasn't sure he could get them, but said to bring them down so he could see them and measure them up.

Just thought I'd see if anybody had a pair of the better Girlock style calipers they wanted to sell.

I'm assuming the Girlock upgrade would be a bolt on swap?

Does anybody know who the manufacturer was for the smaller Stanza (A10) calipers and any part numbers for a seal kit. I have checked the Wiki and see pictures of the caliper, but couldn't find any specific details.

Thanks Mic. Are the 200B exactly the same as the Stanza ones?

I might check with Nick and see what he has.

The early A10 brakes look to be stock Japan-built calipers with D146 pads (?) which are taller than the B310 type, which in turn are just a little wider than 1200 pads. So two sizes bigger than 1200 (but still not very big)

D146
Backing plate width: 63.3 mm
Backing plate height: 56.4 mm

The Girlock pads have a different shape

Thanks David. Yes the ones I have are the ones with the small rectangular style pad.

If the piston and bore are serviceable and I can get a seal kit for them I might just rebuild them. Otherwise the Girlocks would be an improvement. I'll have to measure my rotors as well, as I think there were three different rotor sizes on the Stanzas in Aus.

The standard A10 rotor is 245mm diameter, 5mm smaller than S13 brakes. Fairly decent size

I've found 3 different rotor sizes in my searches, 232 (on SSS), 244 and the 245mm.

I remember when I bought the Stanza off a work colleague (just for the struts and brakes) that I found it had 2 different size rotors on the front and the brake pads on one side weren't fully contacting the rotor...so probably had one of the 232mm rotors on it. I bought one new rotor to match them. Will measure them up tomorrow, but hopefully they are both 245mm.

The first time I had my Coupe the advise from Nissco for the brake upgrade I did was
Stanza struts - with 1200 upper spring seats
200b discs
Sumitomo Capipers (240K)

It all bolts straight up.

Looks like it has that combo again now.
