A good way to turn a well-handling ute into one that isn't "all that planted". A better way might be a more centrally located engine (engine right behind the lower back panel) driving an IRS unit. Might be enough room there with the long wheelbase ute

I don't recall any rear-engine 1200s except this one

Somewhere in the shed I have an adaptor plate and flywheel to bolt an A series to a Kombi box
I think the guy I got it off had a rear engined beachbuggy

No plans to use it yet though

No doubt north south setups are the best for handling in a ute
so I agree DD that caddy could have used a subey or wasserboxer
However I did miss that white datto sedan thread! wow looks ace
what is it running and any other info?

I also dont mind engine behind the rear wheels in a very low
configuration like porsche or subaru sambar setups which are
more fun than midmount well until you exceed its limits and
can never catch the rear fast enough!

LOL Ange glad you didnt find it :)

L28 wouldnt have been just as cheap with more oomph

Actually that would be a nice setup some kind of straigh 6
or 2 x A series and lots of carbs of twin turbos.

Looks like a Chevrolet LUV -- but those are supposed to be four-cylinders
