"Come To Sunny Side" was a marketing push for 1980 B310 Sunny

The four models were featured in many advertisements

Take this ad for example: Most fuel efficient Sunny (As expected)
* 1980 JDM GX with California license plate
* could it be sailboats on San Francisco bay?
* EPA fuel economy #1
* Come To Sunny Side
* 燃費のサニー Sunny Fuel Consumption

Or this one. Same car, mostly same text but different photo

* can make out it says 1400 SGL
* EPA paragraph says Datsun 210, so that's USA EPA fuel economy ratings
* something about Sunny Photo Contest サニーフォトコンテスト

The option that caught my eye was the cool black & white seats for the California wagon

We got those seats here in USA same year 1979, though not common they were in chick_in_coupe's KB310

Those where the seats also in my 1972 180b sss
I wonder why the L series coupes had all the options from factory?
Maybe the sunny line was a poor mans model and if you felt you could
afford more they had all these extra options to thin the pockets.

Sunny line had some good models with nice boxy designs!
way ahead of the 80s oversized boxes offered by the big 3.

Yes indeed, Sunny was the least expensive Datsun model, and so most attractive to the poor man. Back then small equaled economy.

They didn't have expensive small car back then like today we have costly Minis and expensive Smart cars. In USA today the N18 Nissan Versa is the least expensive car ($12000) yet the smaller Smart ForTwo is $24000 and the Mini starts at $26000. A tiny luxury car was inconceivable in 1970

Well except for the luxury dastun 1000 coupe! and the datsun 1200 gx and excellent models that today are way better than poor build quality minis and smart trash
