Hitachi sidedraft carbs (SU-style) are almost exactly the same A-series and L16/L18 versions

The material differences are:
* L-series has stronger Suction Spring
* A and L use different needle valve

And the practical difference is in the throttle linkage. A uses cable linkage, L uses rod linkage (as far as I have seen)

There are only two Suction Springs. So that's an easy change. However there are many needle valves.
* I would change the spring and just run the L valve to start with. There are many adjustments you can make. The A valve is for a stock-spec GX engine (hi-rpm, large port)
* If you have totally orginal GX or A12T engine (including the cam and exhaust system) then it would be worth sourcing the GX/A12T needle valve #M75

British SU dome springs

* Yellow, 8oz part number AUC1167
* Red, 4.5oz part number AUC4387
* Blue, 2.5oz part number AUC4587

Not sure which is closest to L-series Hitachi dome spring

Nissan sold many needles for different engines. A87 = Needle #M76 is for L18 engine. U08 is the AMC for Datsun 610 SSS. The A12GX needle is M83 (Nissan part number 16554-H2316)

Nozzle is 16355-H2310
