Im installing the new A12 engine to replace the A15 and the flywheel I had set aside and refaced turns out to be 35mm thick, the one I was running on the A15 was 28mm, apparently a A12 FW, also ran a engine plate 3.25mm & a standard ht bearing carrier 33mm, it had a problem with clutch disengagement so made a longer slave push rod, still never worked right. All coupled to a 60A 5 spd.

I had a brand new Exedy clutch & cover- man, it was hard to push! Planning on running the 28mm FW, standard carrier & no engine plate, sound right for proper clutch operation?

Wiki doesnt say anything about A15 FW's, were they 35mm thick?

Yes, A15 engine uses the A14 flywheel

The 30mm thick is just a measurement I took from a couple of A14s. Here is me measuring it

That being said it seems there is yet another size of flywheel i hadn't run across

which flywheel is 28mm? The one cast 'K24C' or the one with casting marks 'H', 'II', 'L.03'?

Your photos are 3-megapixel resolution. Had to change the quality to 20% but they still look OK

Are you running a step in your flywheel for free clamp load....or are you running a Toyo clutch?

Dattos are usually flat

H-11 FE is the 28mm A12, K24C is 35mm off the A15. Doug in Portland confirmed 35mm of an A14/15 FW & a 28mm off an A12, he measured both so it looks like stock for A14/15 should be 35mm thick.

Both are stock FW’s , perhaps the step was milled into it by machine shop or by whoever modified the pilot bearing hole before me. I had the machine shop turn down the bushing so it’ll fit.

No Toyota FW, both Datsun.

i seem to recall the 'step' (slightly raised area) is factory stock. But not needed as the first time them flywheel is resurfaced the step is removed. Unlike certain toyo clutches it is a very slight step

Funny but Rob at Action left the step on both FW’s , he also turned down the pilot bushing to fit the smaller hole on the A12 FW - tapped it right in, god knows why anyone made that a smaller ID???
