Shame on Nissan for treating the very successful and popular Datsun brand name like some sort of bargain-bin tagline. Datsun outsold Toyota back in the day, but as soon as they "retired" the Datsun name (circa 1983) sales started slipping badly. Top Gear estimated it cost Nissan $500 million dollars to stop using the Datsun name

Thankfully we never saw the "new Datsun" in north america. Like its self-dealing CEO, may those new Nissan designs be entirely forgotten in the dustbins of history
