Hi:

Can the needle seat in the solenoid cavity, in a A12 B210 1978 Carburetor be extracted, and if so how?
Modifying a new A12 Carburetor for my stock 120Y. Thanks.
Regards

yeah, just unscrew the solenoid from the carburetor and take out the 'pin' in the middle. Then re-install the solenoid. Start engine to see if all is well

It will no longer 'cut' the engine immediately when you turn the key off, but otherwise the engine will run well with this pin removed. The downside of removing this pin is that the engine may want to "run on" after you turn the key off. If this happens you can let the clutch out to stop the engine (keep your foot on the brake!)

The best way to fit a new-style carbie on an older car is to wire up the solenoid wire to the hot side of the ballast resistor. Then the solenoid works as designed

Hi:
i didn't describe it well enough.. within the carburetor body, within the solenoid hole, there is a metal circular sleeve that the solenoid needle sits in when attached. The new carburetor doesn't have this sleeve.. and the needle is loose..so .. l was wondering if that sleeve was being held inplace by something, as l am unable to get it out, or is it screwed in..
Regards

Are you talking about the hole for the solenoid as in the photo above? or something entirely different?

thanks. i never looked at those. perhaps the new design doesn't need the brass insert. Is it one of those eBay China carburetors? Some of them work quite well

Hi
Yea.. it is a chinese copy.. but the same caruburetor body, but with different attachments for the accelerator cable and the choke cable. So. l am modifying the carbie.. to fit the B210 1978. So, far so good.. but the solenoid is a pain.
