I have just recently installed a Mitsubishi Alternator out of a Mazda 323, with a internal voltage regulator into my 1200 coupe circuit car. everything works ok, however it is running consistantly at 16.4 Volts, where as the old one ran at 14.2. In your opinon is running at 16 volts in the danger zone, and likely to cause damage to Battery and electronic ignition? Is there a easy way of droping down the voltage? The only thing i could think of was increasing the pulley size on the alternator.

sounds like your regulator is on its way out, as pulley size shouldnt matter

The job of the regulator is to regulate the voltage, no matter the speed of the pulley.

16 volts is too much, it will damage the battery sooner or later.

I agree with the guys above..no regulator should regulate at 16V.. it's buggered.

Regulators normally don't fail for no reason, check alternator thoroughly before fitting new reg

I think the voltage regulator can be adjusted, well at least the external ones can anyways. Also the pulley size won't have that significant effect on it i believe. Thats my 2cents worth.
