Hey guys, it has been a while since I have posted anything but I need your help. My 1975 B210 won't start. It is turning over but will not catch. I checked each spark plug and they are all getting lots of spark. Any thoughts?? When the key is fully turned it is almost like she wants to start but when I let the key go back to normal it just dies back out. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Pumped the throttle? Sounds like a fuel problem, take the fuel line off the carbie and crank engine over see if fuel comes out, if not could be blockage or fuel pumps had it.

I sprayed some quick start in the carb and get nothing. If I keep trying to turn it over and pump the gas she back fires sometimes (like a gun shot). Wouldn't that mean it is getting gas??

Did this just happen out of nowhere or have you done a tune-up or something recently?
plug wires in the right order?

R U running a ballist resister on the coil? if so might pay to check this as if it fails can sometimes cause it to stop firing as you release the key from start to run.

I am not sure if it is running a ballist resister. The engine is stock. Is the ballist resister on the coil?? How could I find and test this? Because that is exactly what is happening, if the key is in the start position it is like it wants to go but as soon as I let it go to run position the engine winds down.

if you checked the carb already check the points and gap it as the manufacturers specification

Run 12v straight from your battery to your ign coil. If it then starts it is you ballast resistor. It is bypassed while cranking so this is why the car wants to start and then dies.

The coil won't live too long with 12v to it, so either replace the ballast resistor or get a 12V coil.

What's a ballast resistor? Under the bonnet son. . .

White ceramic box above the coil mount. Not real big, about the size of a matchbox split down the middle and the 2 bits layed end to end. . . hmmm, that sounds helpful. . .
