I'm a newbie, both to this site, and the world of datsuns. I've managed to pick up a 120y from my sister in law for next to nothing, and i'm interested to see what I can do with it. My first question concerns the engine, and I'm probably asking a question asked many times before.

Is the standard A12 engine worth working with, or should I ditch it for something like an A15?

I'll come back with more questions as I get to them.

Cheers.

Im intending on doing work to my A12, complete rebuild and head work, then supercharge it. But Im not after a drag machine or anything.
I decided to do this simply cause then I know everything that has been done to the engine, where as if I got an A15 (Which seems hard to do in Townsville) I would still go through with a rebuild etc... so basically I just end up spending more money, although I still havent worked out how big a difference it would be...

This probably hasnt helped you at all..

If we look to the left we will spot a main menu.
In this menu we notice a Tech Section .
And looking a little lower from that we also see a Search facility.

Try these and all your questions will be answered .

Good day and thankyou for using Datsun1200 helpline

The standard A12 is well worth working with. It's a great engine in the automotive scheme of things.

But really it depends on what you want. I enjoy driving the A12 around.

Putting an A15 in will result in more time working on the car, less driving, more time replacing parts, less driving ...
