i have just about finished off the l20b conversion and seeing as i have a bluebird series one wagon for bits i was going to try and put the struts and brakes into my 1200 4 dr. first thing i did was measure the top hat bolt pattern distanse (3 bolts to strut tower) and i noticed they are diff, bluey one is further spaced and bigger. then i thought wat about swapping the hats from the 1200 but the coil spring diameter is larger on the bluey. does anyone no for sure if this swap is possible and if so what do you have to do in regards to the above. i dont want to have to drill new holes in the strut tower. or should i buy some stanza stuts, these would line up with the strut tower holes wouldnt they? thanks alot guys im really stuck on this one!!!

Yes Stanza struts will be ok, but a little too high.

Otherwise you could try to carefully machine the cups off the 1200 struts, and migrate them to the Skyline ones. That's what I did.

so stanza struts would be ok with lowered springs, wouldnt bottom the struts out or do they need modding? do they bolt in to strut tower? Im guessing the bluey ones would be too tall as well then!

Just use the 1200 strut top, it has the same spring i/d as the stanza, you might have to shorten the strut, and use 240/260z or 280zx strut inserts i think, this will stop them bottoming out, you will also need stanza lower control arms ball joints steering arms and sunny radius rods, or you can add extra thread to the stanza ones. The bolt spacing on the bottom of the 1200 strut is smaller than most other nissan struts, stanza/sunny/180b/240k etc.. all of these struts then bolt on. dont think theres anything else

the stanza strut top is same as sunny, same bolt spacing just larger bolt so you can drill holes in car to be larger
