my memorys a bit hazey as i did the conversion in 1998 an i had already done a 120y disk brake conversion before (australian sedans had drums and a single mastercylinder ((eeeek ))) the 120y stuts bolted straight up ,i even used the 1200 stut tops (although ive heard there are different 120y struts which are harder to bolt up(( different years ithink?)) the sunny ones were similar exept shorter (which means your car will be much lower at the front ((you may need new springs)) , the shockies in your 1200 struts wont fit sunny stuts either. the other thing i could be wrong about is i think i had to use the lower control arms off the same sunny. the brakes are larger than the 120y only slightly (havent got the specs) and you dont have to reverse the strut like you do with the stanza struts. im not sure how hard it is to do but a mechanic friend recomended that i put land cruiser calipers on and bigger disks (he could have been talking about bigger struts though) and a mitsubishi scorpion diff on rear to use the disk brakes (hes seen how hard i drive at baskerville race track, needless to say i do get alot of brake fade) also i have installed the mastercylinder booster which was hard (not recomended ((had to make a flange and mount))(((mrnizmo4 can stand witness on how little room there is around the master cylinder))) the easier way i have seen is with a lancer master cylinder and booster which takes up less room ......any corrections or better solutions welcome sorry its another loooooong letter ps i only reeally put the sunny struts in because it was the minimum at the time tho get the car passed with the worked a15. i didnt research other options much. i just needed the car in a hurry and had wrecked sunny parts available. but i know i need to upgrade now so if any one knows of a simple way of upgrading these struts i will be most interested

HEY AGRO12 ....Not sure of all the strut conversions(toooooo many). From memory the landcruiser use twin spot calipers(2 pistons) & are quite large.May have to fit a larger master cylinder to cope. Also consider wheel-caliper clearence.Try pintara , skyline ??????
Ihave also fitted a brake booster & master cylinder from an early pulsar (mid 80's RWD) , I made a spacer to fit between the booster & fire wall. Verry fiddly but well worth it.
Im just about to do a diff conversion using a 620 ute diff( similar to 1200 ute diff but on a bigger scale, have to change stud pattern & tailshaft yoke, also looking into rear discs. will keep you posted.

my brother in law converted to hilux calipers (same as landcruiser) these are 4-spots and require the use of U12 pintara discs which are good cause there vented, installing requires slight maching of the caliper and machining of the disc as well to make it fit, it all fits inside a 14" rim (just) and brakes real well but i really dont think its nesecary on a 750kg car. hes got virtually standard booster and master but says these dont allow him to brake fully. hes putting in a sunny booster with an urvan master cylinder, had to make his own adaptor plate to fit master to booster but is easy to do an any back yard garage
